Biblical order and freedom
Themed evening

Themed evening
The popular themed evenings in the Pflanzgarten School Garden in cooperation with the foundation's pastor and the Mitteldeutsches Bibelwerk are dedicated to order in a biblical context in 2025.
The Bible's account of creation asks for explanations for the order of the world. Adam and Eve stand for the beginning of independent thought and action, their clothing of fig leaves for the ability to create something new, something of their own - with all the consequences that follow from their own responsibility. And - anyone who has ever tasted a ripe, aromatic fig can well imagine the pleasure with which Adam and Eve ate it. Perhaps the fig was the forbidden fruit mentioned in the Bible? The evening in the plant garden on the subject of »figs« aims to explore these and other questions, combining biblical, biological and social aspects.
At once familiar and strange, but always fascinating - this is how we encounter the world of bees. A beehive is a highly organized world that doesn't need us humans, but we don't want to do without it - because of the honey, of course. In the Bible, in addition to the sweetness of honey, it is above all the efficient order of bees that serves as a metaphor for power and omnipresence, for admiration and also fear. Bees are part of our experience; and yet they are mysterious to us, superior in many ways - and threatened in their existence and diversity. This themed evening aims to provide an insight into the world of bees - from a biblical and historical perspective and from the expert viewpoint of a beekeeper. It will end with a convivial evening of wine and conversation.
