At the end of December 2025, the Jurnal Borneo-Kalimantan / Journal of Borneo–Kalimantan, an international journal on the society, culture, and history of Borneo-Kalimantan, published a collaborative article entitled »Out of Borneo – Provenance and Materiality of Objects from Borneo in the Wunderkammer at the Halle Orphanage: International Comparative Perspective«.

The article emerged from the international workshop of the same name, which took place on April 2, 2025, at the Francke Foundations as part of the project »Objects from Borneo in the Art and Natural History Chamber of the Francke Foundations«, funded by the German Lost Art Foundation. The event brought together experts from institutions in Germany, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, and elsewhere to exchange research findings and perspectives on collections of objects from Borneo in various countries, as well as on the general history of collecting objects from Borneo.

The workshop focused on specific collection objects and related research questions. Particular attention was paid to their original meaning and use, as well as their role within the history of the collection and institutional recording of objects from Borneo. Contributions to this international and interdisciplinary discussion are documented in the open access article: https://publisher.unimas.my/ojs/index.php/BJK/article/view/11876/2674
