This spring, the former reading room next to the Historical Scenery Library will be adorned with "beautiful", entertaining literature: books from the library's collection that are particularly worth seeing and can be categorized under the genres of narrative literature, poetry and drama will be presented. The exhibits range from a medieval manuscript to magnificently illustrated early modern prints, literature of pietism and sentimentalism to first editions of German classicism and romanticism. In addition to a diverse display of material, the exhibition also addresses the question of how these precious and impressive representatives of "Belles Lettres" have found their way into the foundation library over the centuries, and how continuities and breaks in German literary history become visible. At the same time, the cabinet exhibition is a contribution to the Klopstock Year 2024.
