Documented orientation search with director Jonathan Brunner

LeoLab

What will it be like to be a teenager in 2026? How do 14-year-olds view politics and society? For his documentary film ‘Junge Herzen’ (Young Hearts, working title), director Jonathan Brunner interviewed over 50 young people across Germany about their fears, desires and hopes.

On this Knowledge Thirst evening, he provides insights into the film's creation: How do you deal with political statements from people who are on the cusp between childhood and adolescence? What does this mean for conducting interviews and the subsequent editing?

Jonathan Brunner not only gives us a preview of the film, but also a glimpse over his shoulder: How does he capture the different perspectives on film? What means can be used to tell the stories together and side by side in a way that broadens the audience's field of vision?

A precise insight into the work on a touching and at the same time humorous portrait of a generation that brings together a wide variety of voices.
