The Francke Foundations are a unique educational ecosystem and much more than a museum. Founded with the aim of improving society, we participate in current social debates: democratic education, social participation, and sustainable action. Prof. Dr. Thomas Müller-Bahlke, former director of the Francke Foundations, talks about Francke's ideas and initiatives, which still form the basis of our work today.

In the 18th century, the Francke Foundations were considered one of the most important educational institutions in Germany. Thanks to an unprecedented rescue effort after German reunification in 1990 and the dedication of many people, the foundations are once again home to an extraordinary educational community.
