For the Long Night of Science, Halle is transformed into a stage for research and discovery.
We invite you to explore our historical collections and view them through a scientific lens. In the Art and Natural History Chamber, this year we will be examining sensitive objects – exploring their geographical origins and the ethnic issues they raise. In half-hour guided tours, objects and stories – such as artefacts brought back from the Borneo mission or ‘human remains’ – are designed to spark your interest. The engaging explanations shed light on the contemporary relevance of our 18th-century collection to current debates.
We also invite you to two tours directly into the library behind the gates and into the air-conditioned archive room. The extensive programme on the Francke Foundations campus is offered by the many academic institutions on the site and concludes with the customary Science Slam as the final highlight.
The garden café and music lounge on the Franckeplatz serves as the gateway to the event.
