Pfeifer&Langen student award ceremony 2025

Recognition of pupils for outstanding social commitment at the Francke Foundations and in the city of Halle

For 29 years now, Pfeifer&Langen, in cooperation with the Francke Foundations, has been awarding prizes for outstanding social and socio-cultural commitment to the Francke Foundations and the city of Halle. The commitment shown by the pupils of the community school and the Latina August Hermann Francke here on the premises inspires us every time! This year, the focus was on intercultural projects and the topics of civil courage and taking responsibility, even for difficult issues.

The main prize was awarded to pupils in Years 9 and 10 of the community school for the realisation of a lively Stolperstein project. The young people took on sponsorship for the laying of a Stolperstein. They organised the financing, developed information materials and held a ceremonial laying of the stones – including a video call with a surviving family member in the USA. The project strengthened historical awareness, promoted intercultural exchange and established a tradition that will inspire future generations to engage with their own history.

A group prize was also awarded to pupils at the comprehensive school for a German-Polish exchange week, which was recognised as a successful model for intercultural exchange.
The voluntary work carried out by pupils at the comprehensive school and at Latina in the areas of school technology, ‘service learning’, professional lighting and sound technology, experimental photography and event support at the Francke Foundations was also worthy of recognition.

We congratulate all the award winners and are delighted to honour these special young people and their projects.
