»I can hear something you can’t see« – a radio programme with Radio Corax

What does my surroundings actually sound like? And what do people in Halle do when they get lost? The results of our audio workshop are online!

Drawing on this year’s theme, »settle in«, the Krokoseum explored the topic of »orientation« through sound during the Easter holidays. What does my surroundings actually sound like when I can’t see them? What can you use to orientate yourself, both internally and externally? And what do people in Halle do when they actually do get lost? The children explored these and other questions during the two-day workshop with the children’s and youth radio station Corax.

Under the expert guidance of the media educators from the independent radio station, the participants – equipped with a professional recording device – set off on an orientation tour of the local area and began conducting their first surveys among passers-by. The recorded surveys were often very funny and bizarre, as some of the ‘respondents’ had very unusual stories and answers at the ready.

On the second day, all participants headed to the radio station’s studio – there they got to meet lots of interesting people and see the equipment, and were given an introduction to broadcasting technology. To get an overview and find their bearings, they then worked together to create a broadcast schedule. Now the roles could be assigned, scripts rehearsed once more and stage fright worked off – because, fortunately, we weren’t live on the radio, but »live to tape«.

The result is a lively, fun and, above all, must-listen programme, which is now available to listen to on the website of Corax Children’s and Youth Radio. Everyone who took part in the radio workshop with Corax and the Krokoseum had a really great time and is looking forward to a lively reunion in the future! Over and out!
