St. George’s Chapel in House 24 is a reminiscence of Francke’s first parish, St. George’s Church in Glaucha. It was installed in 1998 in a room with a remarkable cross vault (Kreuzgewölbe), creating a place within the France Foundations for devotion and worship, for tranquility, contemplation and encounters, which also makes the Christian roots of the Foundations visible.

The Chapel is regularly used by students of the Study House of the Protestant Church in Central Germany(Evangelisches Konvikt) for prayers and services, to which guests are also welcome. The Theological Faculty of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg uses the Chapel for church services during the semester. In addition, the Chapel offers members of the Seminary a room for liturgic and homiletic exercises, for choir and organ practice.

The chaplain of the Francke Foundations uses the Chapel for special services of worship for groups of pilgrims and tourists, school children and confirmation candidates. Because of the Francke Foundations’ centuries-old missionary tradition, Christians of all denominations worldwide visit Halle time and again. In their company, visitors are invited to also take part in various prayers and services in the Chapel.
