A hotel in the Orphanage

»Globalization gives many people a chance, but it can also bring with it many problems. You will see that you too are part of this globalized world and that you too can change something through your behaviour«,  promises Jane Goodall to all visitors of the exhibition »hotel global«. Therefore we have transformed the seven rooms of the exhibition floor of the Historical Orphanage into a hotel. Nine guests with their pioneering and exemplary projects inhabit the rooms, which are not usual hotel rooms: When the visitors enter, they  are introduced into the guest's world.

Explore the fascinating world of our international hotel guests. Who lives in room 7 or 10? What goes on in the kitchen? And who owns the heavy suitcase? Let yourself be surprised, open the room doors, embark on an exciting globalisation journey. Hotel guests from all over the world inhabit the hotel with their trend-setting projects and life stories. They work as scientists, artists, have a technical profession or are even employed in the hotel themselves. You meet the environmental activist Jane Goodall in the Tanzanian jungle, Captain Mischa Richter, who is on his way to Shanghai with his giant container ship, or Fatima, the Moroccan chambermaid who sends the money to his family back home.

The guests' rooms invite you to join in. They show you the risks and opportunities of our global world and give you insights into the various ways in which globalisation can be managed. Find out how everything is connected! Anyone who has cooked in the international kitchen, bought something in the shop or has been able to determine their own ecological footprint has the chance to take a World Citizen Passport home with them.
