This year, the five-day summer course will be held in conjunction with the EU Project, entitled “The history of human freedom and dignity in Western civilization”, with the Francke Foundations as its partner institution. From 21 – 25 August 2017, students and doctoral candidates will receive basic information on consulting manuscripts and early books and prints. At the centre of its focus are reading exercises for deciphering manuscripts penned in the German Kurrent script, particularly 18th century letters and ego documents.
