Francke Foundations Offices
At present the Francke Foundations’ administration is housed in the former Brewery and Bakery of Francke’s “school town”. The oven dating from the middle of the eighteenth century is located on the ground floor and is a tourist magnet. It is part of an exhibition on the history of food supply in the Glaucha institutions, including water. A part of the old wooden water supply pipe is a reminder of the fact that excess water used to be channelled through to nearby Steinweg. A permanent exhibition on the upper floor deals with the past 25 years of cultural and educational work carried out by the Francke Foundations, which was revived in 1990. Events regularly take place in the vaulted cellar of the building.
